Developed in early 1945, taekwondo is a Korean martial art that combines Japanese and Chinese elements, as well as indigenous Korean rudiments. It involves throwing movements such as kick, punch, strikes, and blocks to the opponent. In the Little Red Dot, the Singapore Taekwondo Federation is recognised by the Singapore Sports Council and affiliated to the Singapore National Olympic Committee.

There are many prominent Taekwondo schools in Singapore, such as J H Kim (JH Kim), Hankuk Taekwondo, INDUK Taekwondo etc. Everyone starts out as a taekwondo white belt. The grading system is standardised with colour and tip systems for the belts, and progress in the order of white belt, yellow, green, blue, red and finally black belt!
